ABM receives photograph archives from the former photo studio “Foto Londres”
The Arquivo Regional e Biblioteca Pública da Madeira (ABM) signed a donation agreement with the former Photogragh studio – “Foto Londres”.
The ceremony took place on the 23rd of November at 5.00pm at the ABM auditorium with the presence of the Regional Secretary for Economy, Tourism and Culture, Mr. Eduardo Jesus and the family who owns the collection.
The “Foto Londres” archives was handed to the Region by Mrs. Odete Bettencourt Alves dos Santos Pestana and consists of around 54,000 photograph species, mainly studio photographs (ID Cards) as well as weddings, baptisms and first communions’ photo reports.
With the signing of this agreement, and from now on, ABM is committed to ensure the collections’ preservation, technical treatment, access and diffusion. After going through all necessary technical treatment procedures, the photographs will be available for consultation at the Archive’s and Reserved Area Reading Room (2nd floor).
